IADR Hatton Competition and Awards

The IADR Hatton Competition and Awards is a well-established, highly prestigious competition associated with high-level science, and alumni of committed dental, oral and craniofacial researchers. The Competition was initially established as the Dental Science and Dental Art Award for the best research presented by a novice. The commendation was unofficially shortened to the "Novice Award", with a stipend of $100. It was first presented in 1953 at the IADR meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The competition is designed to provide an opportunity for the best junior investigators from all IADR Divisions and Sections to present their research at the annual IADR General Session. A major goal of the IADR Hatton Competition and Awards is to give as many students and new investigators as possible access to the IADR General Session, as well as the experience to present an oral and poster presentation. Travel funding also gives support to lower to middle income members who may not have the ability to travel to the IADR General Session.

IADR is offering multiple funding opportunities for the IADR Hatton Competition and Awards  to help to ensure the future of dental, oral and craniofacial research.

Each candidate who participates in person will receive IADR meeting registration fees, as well as monetary prizes awarded to the six (6) winners of the Competition. The Competition will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the IADR/AADR/CADR General Session & Exhibition Virtual Experience.
